lake Maraboon

It is great to be here again.  A looong drive from 1770, but a good one.  We stopped for lunch at a little place and refreshed for the rest of the haul.

I have to say that it was a relief to get here.  We got a spot across the road from the amenties block, but nice and quiet, so it's a bonus.

We got gret spots in the park, but not together.  Peter and Helen started to make friends with the birds straight away, even brought them down to our van for company"

Lake Maraboon is the Fairbairn Dam and is full of freshwater lobsters called Red Claw (or Led Craw if ya chinese).  The bloke next door has a whole team of people and rellos names that he puts on his pots (you are only allowed for per person but no bag limit), so he catches 50 at a time.  He gave us some, so I cooked them up and shared them with Peter and Helen.  They are absolutely delicious, like very large prawns, and with a little garlic-infused oil, shallots and a hot pan, they were scrummy.  I gotta get some pots and a boat.  Hang on, if I put floats on the 750, all I need is the pots and bait and someone to give me a hand to pull them in..................don't all rush to sign up just yet - but it's a thought!!

Went for a walk this morning along the lake shoreline.  Bewdiful!!  Pics:

Pack tonight for an early departure tomorrow for Longreach.  We have already booked at the van park, so it's all secure.  Peter and Helen will probably go to the Stockman's Hall of Fame and the Qantas Museum, but we will have a lay day.  Hoo roo.
